What are braces, and how do they work?
Are you ready to achieve a perfect smile? Metal braces are the traditional way of doing that! With this type of orthodontics, stainless steel brackets get fixed onto the teeth with specialized dental cement. Over time, the wires and tiny rubber bands work hard to gently guide teeth into the desired direction for a straighter, brighter grin.
The Traditional Braces Treatment Process
At Amigos Dental Care, our staff ensures patients feel warmly welcomed from the get-go! Our experienced orthodontic team is dedicated to creating your perfect smile with individualized attention throughout every step of your braces journey. Before committing to traditional braces, our orthodontic team will look closer at your smile, discuss your health history, and listen to your goals.
Suppose you and your dentist decide that traditional braces are the most suitable treatment option. In that case, our staff will review treatment expectations and metal braces cost as well as take a moment to answer any questions you might have about this orthodontic treatment.
When it’s time to start traditional braces, our team will polish and prime your teeth before placing brackets with semi-permanent dental cement. When the brackets are placed in perfect position, our staff member will bond them directly to the tooth. Then, they will string the arch wires and tie tiny elastic bands to secure the traditional braces.
From time to time, you’ll need to come into our office for adjustments, where elastic bands are removed, replaced, and tightened so that the teeth can move into their desired alignment.
When treatment has concluded, our dental team member will remove the metal braces, wires, and rubber bands to expose a perfectly straight smile.
After any orthodontic treatment, we strongly suggest wearing a retainer. When braces are removed, the teeth tend to drift back to their original position, and retainers fight against their natural tendency and help maintain alignment.
